June/July observations

I’ve shared some of these on earlier posts, but I wanted to have them all in one place.

Migrant hover fly (Eupeodes corolla), according to the person on iNaturalist who identified it for me.

Eurasian Smoothwing (Scaeva pyrastri)

Ladder-backed hover fly (Melanostoma scalare)

Red-tailed bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius)

Western honey bee (Apis mellifera)

Common carder bee (Bombus pascuorum)

Buff-tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris). These seem to be the most common bee in the garden.

Seven-spot ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata), which is, the common ladybug. I had thought that there was just one ladybird, but now have a laminated sheet with 39 listed!

Fourteen-spotted lady beetle (Propylea quatuordecimpunctata)

Turnip moth (Agrotis segetum)

Yellow-haired sun fly (Myathropa florea)

Common green bottle fly (Lucilia sericata)
