Rock gardens

These are my first attempts at creating rock gardens.

Kidney vetch (Anthyllis vulnararia), sea campion (Silene uniflora), sea plantain (Plantago maritima), and Cheddar pink (Dianthus gratianopoltiaus).

Pot to the left, rock sea lavender (Limonium binervosium), Deptford pink (Dianthus armenia), and marram grass (Ammophila arenaria). Pots to the right, front and back are rock cinquefoil (Potentilla rupestris).

The last few bees and ladybirds of the year are visiting. There’s an end of summer feeling in the garden.

We bought a bee hotel ready for next year, and a suet feeder for the birds over winter (see photo below). I’m skeptical that they’ll visit without more shrubbery to hide them, but we’ll see.
