Melancholy thistle

Here it is - latin name, Cirsium heterophyllum. It’s found in the wild in meadows, open woodlands, and along streams and roadside verges. I’m not sure how well it will do in the long term in containers, but the plant is happy right now, and it’s good to have late summer flowers.

We’re also enjoying our heathers (Calluna vulgaris)

As well as the delicate sea campions (Silene maritima).
