The 20 x 40 foot terrace

We moved to our flat in Norwich, UK in May 2024. Its greatest selling point was a 20 by 40 foot terrace with a view of the cathedral - now home to 100 plant containers filled mostly with native plants, and a few non-natives.

This was our garden in April 2024.

One year on, and we now have two trees, a pond, two bog gardens, two solar-powered water fountains, the beginning of a native hedge, and a bird feeder. We’ve had many bees visit, one sighting of a dragonfly, and a single bird visitor to the feeder.

In April and May, two crows visited us almost daily. They were a couple, so we called them Blacky and Blackette. They took long slurps of water, bought bread to dip in the water, and gobbled up our offerings of seeds and nuts; then they disappeared.

Blackette approaching the drinking bowl. We miss Blacky and Blackette dearly!
